Space Hire and Hosting

Our bookshop has a variety of spaces available for hire for a range of uses. See below breakdown of the rates, facilities and capacity, as well as our expectations for hosts utilising the shop.

When enquiring about renting the space, please give us as much detail as you can about the purpose of your hire. If you would like to rent the space but the rates below are too high, please get in touch anyway as we do not want folks to be excluded from utilising the shop and we can discuss arrangements.

Rates

Sliding Scale

Rates are on a sliding scale, please consider selecting the higher scale if you have access to secure financial income and support and/or generational wealth.

Final costs are at our discretion dependent on staffing requirements; certain volumes of attendees while the shop is open will require more than one staff member to be present.

Craft Room

Comfortable seated capacity of 6 people, maximum capacity 8 people.
Private space with seating and table optional. Available during shop open hours. Reliable WiFi.

During opening hours: £5 - £10 per hour

Reading Room

Comfortable seated capacity of 8-10 people, comes with tea and coffee station. Sofas, armchairs, coffee tables, and optional extra chairs. WiFi intermittent. Private.

During opening hours: £10 - £20 per hour

Communal Table

At the back of the bookshop, a large table available to seat approximately 10-12 people. Open space, not private. Table can be removed easily to have an open event space seating up to 30 people. Reliable WiFi.

During opening hours: £7.50 - £15 per hour

Entire Shop

Standing capacity of up to 90 people. Seated capacity of up to 50 people with advance notice. Large table available, creates seated capacity of 18 people all with table access.

Only available outside of opening hours: £50 - £80 per hour

Rates

Evening rates are higher to cover staff and utility rates.
20% discount if 5 or more sessions are booked.
Public events are sober spaces, for private events we allow alcohol to be served but do not have a license for selling.

WiFi throughout shop
Some craft supplies available (paper, pens, crayons) – please advise in advance if you will require access to these.
Free hot drinks and snacks.
PA system (2 microphones with speakers) and projector with screen available.
Toilet available (please see accessibility page for further details).
Small kitchen with sink, microwave, kettle, and filter coffee machine

Hosting Information

Marketing

If you are hosting an event in our space, we will do our best to assist with marketing but we would appreciate if you make sure to add us as collaborators when you post on your Instagram grid (see this guide for how), and tag us in Instagram stories and on Facebook; you can also add us as the location for the posts which helps people find us, and ensures we can cross-promote to both our audiences.

Logistics

On the day we expect hosts to discuss with us their preferred schedule as well as work with us on the space set up, prep, and layout as well as tidying up afterwards in whatever capacity you are able to. We want to foster a respectful environment and encourage guests to speak well of us and want to return to the space, and we thank you for working with us to make that happen!
